fashion trends

The tests are over, assignments are done and the only books you’ll want to be reading are paperbacks on the beach. And this summer, you’ll want to look your best and conquer whatever fashion trends might come your way, especially for us ladies. From bathing suits to sunglasses to less than plain old clothes, here are 10 summer trends for summer 2010.

Sunglasses: Vintage frames are in for the summer. Whether square, round or horn-rimmed, the sunglasses trend this summer is all about finding that unique look that suits a specific face shape as well as an individual personality.

Swimsuits: Variety seems to be the key with swimsuits this summer, with every trend fitting in with a specific body type. Those who are keener on revealing skin might enjoy the “cut-out” trend. These suits and bikinis are designed in a specific way to highlight good areas of the body while leaving others under wraps. Additionally, the cut outs highlight the cool designs of the suits. Another trend is 1950s pinup girl swimsuits, which gives a vintage look to your summer getup while also flattering any body shape.

Coverups: When it comes to this beach essential, the more the merrier. There’s no end to coverups, from beautiful woven print towels, to crocheted tunics and even kimono wrap tops. The overall theme of coverups this summer seems to be ethnic prints and looks made with airy fabrics, all giving off an effortless look.

Temps are already skyrocketing into the 90 degree range on the East Coast which means it’s time to start showing some skin. However, the office is no place to bare it all. Fortunately one of the season’s top trends just happens to be the summer suit!

An updated take on office wear, the summer suit is comprised of a sharp blazer and chic shorts (which also happens to be a very of-the-moment trend in its own right).

DKNY, Stella McCartney, Chris Benz, and Charlotte Ronson were some of the designers who sent pretty pairings down the runway for spring/summer.

Chic en latexSabatini White sleepy, seductive for Spring 2010

With a dreamy cover of 30’s classic Falling In Love Again, Sabatini White’s RAFW (Australian fashion week) show began. Models with hair in soft, cascading waves padded slowly down the runway with a sleepy sensuality, like purring kittens on a late morning hunt for milk. Before long the music upped in pace and the padding became prowling as tighter, darker, cut-away pieces found their way down the runway, followed by full-length sheer black lace pieces and some empire-waist tiered dresses that echoed a 70s free-love sentiment.

The dreamy, just-woken-up look also manifested in feminine yet sultry pieces that sat somewhere between lingerie and outerwear, rounding out a beautiful Spring 2010 collection.
