Jacket for woman: leather jacket, down jacket, bench jacket, gilet jacket, denim jacket and waterproof jacket
Minor Loves
As much as I value the ankle and hate to see it swallowed by fur and laces, 1. this layering made me go 'yes' (literally) and 2. this hoody is just so effortlessly cool.
Strength, like fashion, is in the details
The fashion industry is often cruel to women. Seasonal trends can end up completely divorced from the female form, unrelated to the bodies of average women. (I love the tulip and bubble shapes because I have no hips - can every woman say the same?) Models take it even further. Once called "mannequins" and prized for being only slightly more trim than the rest of the population, they now tend to be childlike figures posed submissively, sexually, or blankly. Look at any fashion spread or advertisement from the 40s or 50s and then at what's around today: women in fashion were once aloof figures that commanded admiration; today they invite the reader to take advantage of them.

Fashion Week Wrap Up
predominant trend
Palette of black & grey, punctuated by moments of bright color or shine.
Granny With a Twist of Lemon
A little bit more elderly than classic, but the touches of bright yellow keep it from being either.
More From London
Ah, Autumn/Winter. That's what I thought.
At first I was very excited by Margaret Howell's 'casual propriety meets street urchin', but the more I looked the less exciting it became.

Inspiration From London
Her collection took the main trends - plaid, leggings, black & grey, volume - as a canvas on which to paint the Karen Walker picture. (A picture I wouldn't mind wearing as a sandwich board)
Milanery
I complained about Erdem Moralioglu's little hats in London and here they are again in Milan, at Giorgio Armani.
Stephen Patrick Somber
There was nothing exuberant about the collection, but it had a hint of cheekiness. It seemed to follow the Morrissey brand of serious, and that's something I can get behind.
Imaginary Old Age
Had a mandatory health screening at work today- turns out I am quite healthy, with almost impossibly good cholesterol. I certainly wasn't surprised, but it made me reconsider my interest in age. I have a people-watching habit I call 'photoshop', where I mentally add signs of aging to young passerbys. I anticipate how their facial structure, body carriage, and clothing choices will change as they grow older.

The Latest In Ugliness
Today on Ugly Fashion Monday, we'll be looking to the future; a new breed of high fashion ugly has come to my attention.
It isn't glaring, ostentatious, or painful to look at. In fact, it can almost be overlooked. It's defining characteristics are figure-unfriendliness (often with 80s inspired shapes), and an overall tendency to be boring.
