More and more, it's looking like the
The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack will be this fall's
Dark Was the Night. We've already heard
"Meet Me on the Equinox", Death Cab for Cutie's new song from the teen vampire movie sequel. Director Chris
Weitz has said that both
Thom Yorke and Bon Iver have written new songs for the movie. And now we can confirm
this New York Times report that
Grizzly Bear will also pop up on the soundtrack. Will Vampire Weekend be next, or is that just too obviousLast week, we
told you that
the Flaming Lips would appear in all their splendor on
"The Colbert Report". Last night, that meeting of the minds happened. Stephen Colbert interviewed
frontman Wayne
Coyne, needling him for the "downer" lyrics to "Do You Realize??" and offering such faux-conservative gems as: "It's sounds to me, when I listen to your music, like you're trying to expand my mind. And I don't change my mind for
anyone." For his part,
Coyne pulled off the Herculean feat of somehow coming across as sincere and affable on in the presence of Stephen Colbert.
After the interview, the band played a fiery, noised-up rendition of the new psych jam "Convinced of the Hex", from the Lips' forthcoming album
Embryonic. You can watch the interview
here and the performance
here.
